PRODUCT INFORMATION
Shipbuilding plate is flat steel used in hulls, decks, internal structures and bulkheads, whose toughness, weldability and resistance to marine conditions are supervised by a classification society. In a ship structure working under salt, humidity and continuous dynamic load, resistance to brittle fracture is guaranteed by impact toughness at low temperature; shipbuilding plate is therefore produced in class-approved mills and every lot is tested and stamped by the class surveyor. Normal-strength grades A, B, D and E suit progressively colder service as the letter advances; in the high-strength 32, 36 and 40 classes the A/D/E/F prefixes guarantee impact toughness at 0, −20, −40 and −60 °C respectively, carry the same load in thinner sections and reduce hull weight. The grades in our stock serve new construction as well as repair and maintenance projects in shipyards, supplied in various forms and sizes from tankers, tugs and fishing vessels to offshore structures.
