About flat bar, strip and angle
Flat bar is a straight bar of rectangular section, strip a narrow thin flat bar, and angle (L section) an L-shaped profile; all three are hot-rolled long products that form the connection, reinforcement and closing details of a structure. Angles serve frames and bracing, flat bars connection plates and stiffening strips, strips edges and closures; angles come in equal and unequal legs, unequal legs being preferred for asymmetric connections. Being untreated, they cut, drill and bend easily; they are used in structural steel and roofs, frame and door fabrication, railings and gratings, racking and platforms, pipe hangers and brackets, and general workshop work. S355 flat bar is preferred for structural connection plates and galvanised angle in corrosive environments; sending quantities with the size list speeds up the cutting and drilling plan, and therefore the quotation.
